Visualizing 2,600 Years of History
Published in 2005, it was authored and designed by brothers Adam & Andrew Hill.
The Book of Mormon Timeline is the result of 2 years of full time research, illustration and design. Printed in the United States and currently in its 5th printing.
Why a Meso-American Theme?
The artwork surrounding the timeline depicts only a few of the many cultures that existed in the Americas during the time of the Book of Mormon. The choice of Meso-American themed art and motif for the timeline was not to suggest that is where the events of the Book of Mormon took place, but because of the richness and variety of art from that region lends itself well to designing such a chart. The "heartland model" and other suggestions as to where the events of the Book of Mormon took place merely lacked the abundance of artistic styles available. Perhaps in time, another art style will be adopted in a future publication of this timeline.
When Lehi' arrived in the promised land, he blessed it as a land of liberty and prophesied "there shall none come into this land save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord." 2 Nephi 1:6

The idea for the timeline...
The creation of The Book of Mormon Timeline began with a desire to be able to more clearly visualize the history of the Nephite, Lamanite, and Jaredite nations. Including a parallel Biblical & world history timeline also created a new perspective of where the Book of Mormon events align with other events in history of man kind.
Inspiration for the design and layout of the timeline was influenced significantly by Sebastian Adam's design of his Timechart History of the World, which he initially printed in 1881.

Crafted for Deep Study
Every line on the 6ft chart was meticulously rendered to balance rich historical data with visual clarity. The warm, muted color palette and hand illustrated images connect what truly is a complicated chart in such a way that allows the viewer to immerse themselves in study without being overwhelmed.
The result is an illuminating educational piece that brings millennia of sacred records into focus at a single glance.

Why This Timeline Stands Apart...
Great care was taken to ensure the delicate balance of information and art. Too little information and it loses it's meaning. Too light on art and it's not enjoyable to study.

6-foot size allows room to present a comprehensive picture.
Parallel world and biblical events provide a better perspective.
Scriptural citations on each point allow for quick reference and study.
Archival lithograph print on heavy stock ensures a long lasting timeline.
Sources of inspiration
In creating The Book of Mormon Timeline, the Hill brothers drew inspiration from people whose writings, discoveries, and creative work have shaped how we understand and visualize the past. Their contributions were made in different times, but each helped inspire both the content and overall look of this timeline. Citing them is a small gesture of gratitude for their works in life that inspired ours.

Mormon & Moroni
Ancient Nephite prophets, military leaders, historians, and author/abridgers of the record called "the golden plates," the source for what would become The Book of Mormon.
Joseph Smith Jr
First prophet of the Restoration & translator of The Book of Mormon from the gold plates "by the gift and power of God."
Fredric Catherwood
Artist - the vertical paintings featured on the left and right sides of Book of Mormon Timeline are paintings of F. Catherwood. They stand as beautiful representations of the great civilizations that once existed in the Americas.

Sebastian Adams
American Historian & Author. Creator of the Synchronological Chart or Map of History, first published in 1881. His timechart heavily inspired the design of the Book of Mormon Timeline. Which even included a refrence to The Book of Mormon coming forth.
Hugh Nibley
Professor of religious studies at BYU. Among the countless hours of research, countless hours of listening to Nibley's lectures on the Book of Mormon, stands among other sources of inspiration for the content depicted on the Book of Mormon Timeline.
